Emission-free parcel delivery in the 1st and 2nd districts of Vienna

Vienna, 03.09.2024 - Together with 31 other companies, GLS Austria has joined an initiative of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and has been delivering all parcels in the first and second districts emission-free since September 1 as part of the “Zero Emission Transport” project.

With the “Zero Emission Transport” project, the Vienna Chamber of Commerce has launched a measure for large-scale emission-free commercial transport in Vienna, in which participating companies undertake to drive into the first and second districts of Vienna emission-free.

“Naturally, we welcome the Vienna Chamber of Commerce's project and see it as our obligation to participate,” says Managing Director Christian Schöninger: ”Our task is to create an organization that meets the needs of the world around us. This means that our goal must be to achieve our economic success sustainably and in harmony with the protection of the environment. With initiatives like this, we can make the city a better place to live for current and future generations.”

In the two pilot project districts, GLS Austria now delivers all parcels emission-free, with further districts to follow in the coming years. With the gradual conversion of the vehicle fleet to environmentally friendly vehicle models and the continuous expansion of the network of ParcelShops and ParcelBoxes, the company is preparing for the logistics of tomorrow.
