GLS Poland cooperates with Customs Offices
GLS Poland cooperates with Customs Offices. As a result, many parcels with smuggled goods have recently been detected and secured.
In Poland, from the beginning of 1993, excise duties have been reintroduced. This includes alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, dried tobacco or liquids for electronic cigarettes. The transport of such goods is a subject to precise guidelines in accordance with the relevant laws. GLS Poland in its Terms of Services clearly indicates that excise goods are excluded from transport. Despite this, there are many shipments with which senders try to circumvent applicable regulations.
That is why GLS Poland cooperates with customs authorities who pick up parcels with illegal content. At the end of April, the Customs Office in Łódź stopped almost 20 shipments due to suspected smuggling. The parcels were secured and high fines were imposed on their senders.
It is worth adding that such shipments can also significantly delay the transport of other parcels. The entire line haul is stopped, hence the difficulties in quickly delivering the remaining parcels.
A list of all goods excluded from transport with GLS Poland can be found here .
Pay for parcels with BLIK!
GLS Poland has started a cooperation with BLIK. Thanks to this, the recipients of parcels delivered by GLS can pay for shipments cashless and contactless.
Pay for parcels with BLIK!
GLS Poland has started a cooperation with BLIK. Thanks to this, the recipients of parcels delivered by GLS can pay for shipments cashless and contactless.
BLIK payments can be used by people receiving COD parcels. This option allows them to make payments and collect a package in a completely non-contact way, maintaining an appropriate social distance. They do not need to approach the delivery driver with a credit card – all they have to do is give him the BLIK code. If necessary, even through closed doors. The procedure itself is very simple: after providing the code to the delivery driver, they confirm the transaction (like any other BLIK) in the mobile application of their bank.
BLIK currently allows a "contactless" payment of up to PLN 50,000. Thanks to this, it is more secure than card transactions that require a "touch" PIN entry of over PLN 100.
Introducing this functionality to the CashService (more information here )is another possibility of secure delivery of parcels by GLS Poland. For prepaid shipments, recipients can also use the InfoCourierService, where they will receive an SMS with a pickup code. All they have to do is give it to the delivery driver and a signature confirming that a receipt of the package will not be necessary. In addition, they can agree to leave the shipment without a signature in a secure place they have designated as part of the FlexDeliveryService. All actions are taken to increase the safety of customers, recipients and delivery drivers.

Secure delivery with GLS Poland
In the face of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, GLS Poland has prepared additional opportunities through which recipients can receive parcels in a safe way...
Recipients have the following options at their disposal:
- Delivery of a package to a safe place using the FlexDeliveryService.
Thanks to it, each Recipient whose e-mail address was provided by the Sender issuing the address label for the shipment, will receive an e-mail with a link enabling selection of the delivery option. After clicking on the provided link, the recipient doesn’t only have an opportunity of changing the address or date of delivery for free, but also has the option of granting permission for leaving the parcel without a signature at the delivery address. Thanks to this, the package can be delivered e.g. to the door or to the terrace. The designated place must, however, be secured, among others against access by third parties or rain.
- Delivery with confirmation of package receival using a PIN code.
If the Sender provides us with the Recipient's phone number and uses the InfoCourierService, the recipient will receive an SMS with the courier's phone number and a four-digit code by which she/he will be able to collect the parcel without having to sign for it on the scanner. As a result, delivery will also be possible, e.g. through the door, if the Recipient is quarantined.

Coronavirus – preventive information
We are constantly giving our best to provide the usual high quality of parcel services, without compromising the health of senders, recipients, delivery drivers or our employees. We’re closely monitoring the coronavirus situation in Poland, therefore we have introduced the following measures and limitations:
- For deliveries to flats and houses, we encourage you to use the FlexDeliveryService, which allows you to issue a consent to leaving the parcel without a signature in a safe place at the delivery address. In this case, the delivery driver might place your parcel in front of the door, the terrace, etc. without risky and unnecessary personal contact.
- Another secure form of delivery is the option of receiving the shipment using a PIN code as part of the InfoCourierService.
If the sender uses InfoCourierService and gives us the recipient's phone number, the addressee will receive a text message with courier's phone number and a four-digit PIN code. The PIN should be provided to the courier at the time of delivery. Thanks to this form of delivery, there is no need to sign on the scanner but the shipments are still secure. - When delivering to companies, we limit the delivery driver's contact to one designated person and place (e.g. the reception of a building).
- We do not hand over scanners (e.g. when signing), pens or other items during shipping and delivery processes.
- We have equipped our delivery drivers with disinfectants and guidelines to protect them against infection.
- In the interests of the safety of our customers, our employees and delivery drivers, we encourage you to provide online payment options for purchased goods.
- Some ParcelShop / Szybka Paczka points may be closed. Before choosing the ShopReturnService and ShopDeliveryService, please make sure that delivery to a given point will be possible - especially if it is located in a shopping mall.
- For shipments with Pick&ShipService and Pick&ReturnService, please verify that the place of pickup is accessible to our delivery drivers. Please note that in shopping centers, we only have access to pharmacies, grocery stores and drugstores. Delivery drivers are not allowed to access other areas, despite the presence of employees.
- In order to reduce personal contact and limit potential risks for senders sending only a small number of parcels a day, we offer pickups by delivery drivers only for a minimum of five parcels. However, individual arrangements with the delivery driver are possible to suit everybody’s needs.
- For prevention, we deactivated SaturdayService.
